🌵
Tephrocactus geometricus f. variegata is among the rarest and most coveted collector forms in cultivation, combining the famously sculptural growth of Tephrocactus geometricus with beautiful natural variegation in shades of soft cream, apricot, yellow, and blush pink. Native to the high desert regions of northwestern Argentina, T. geometricus is celebrated for its perfectly rounded segments that resemble polished stones more than a traditional cactus. Variegated specimens are extraordinarily uncommon, and mature multi-segment plants such as this are seldom encountered. This exceptional specimen features eighteen beautifully developed cladodes along with five emerging offsets, creating a remarkably full, architectural display with outstanding color throughout the crown. Whether admired for its rarity, unusual form, or constantly changing variegation, this is a museum-quality collector cactus that will remain a centerpiece in any serious collection for many years to come.
Care Instructions
☀️ Light
Bright light to full sun. Morning sun with light afternoon protection is ideal in extremely hot climates.
💧 Water
Water thoroughly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry completely before watering again. Keep nearly dry during winter dormancy.
🪨 Soil
Requires an extremely fast-draining mineral cactus mix with excellent drainage.
🌡️ Temperature
Protect from frost. Prefers warm, dry conditions with good air circulation.
🌬️ Humidity
Low humidity is preferred.
📈 Growth Habit
Very slow-growing, segment-forming cactus that gradually produces offsets, eventually developing impressive sculptural clumps.
✍️ Special Note
Variegated portions contain less chlorophyll than green tissue and naturally grow more slowly. Their unique coloration is a stable and highly desirable characteristic that makes every specimen one of a kind.
Why It Stands Out

Exceptional pastel coloration
Museum-quality architectural specimen
Outstanding collector rarity
Collector Notes
Tephrocactus geometricus has long been regarded as one of Argentina's finest collector cacti, admired for its nearly perfect spherical segments and slow, deliberate growth. Naturally variegated forms are exceptionally scarce and almost never found in habitat, making established cultivated specimens highly sought after. Large plants with this number of mature cladodes represent many years of careful cultivation and become increasingly valuable as they continue to offset and develop even greater architectural character.
