Mangave 'Red Wing' is a striking intergeneric succulent hybrid (cross between Agave and Manfreda) known for its large, symmetrical rosette of deep burgundy-red leaves. It is prized for its architectural form, rapid growth compared to traditional agaves, and its intense foliage color that deepens in full sun.

APPEARANCE & DESCRIPTION

• Foliage: The leaves are thick, rigid, and lance-shaped with a deep burgundy-purple tone and small marginal teeth. In peak summer sun, the color can appear "carnation red".
• Size: At maturity, it typically reaches 16–18 inches tall and 24–26 inches wide.
• Growth Habit: It forms a refined, fountain-like rosette with arching leaves that curve toward the ground.
• Hardiness: It is suitable for USDA Zones 9–11. While it can tolerate light frost down to roughly 20°F, it should be protected from hard freezes.

 CULTIVATION and CARE:

• Light: Requires full sun (at least 6 hours daily) for the most vibrant red coloration; colors may fade to green or purple in lower light.
• Water: Follow a "soak and dry" routine—water deeply when the soil is completely dry, then allow it to dry again before the next watering. It is more tolerant of supplemental water than most succulents but requires sharp drainage.
• Soil: Use a very well-draining, gritty cactus or succulent mix.
• Overwintering: In climates colder than Zone 9, bring the plant indoors to a bright window or under grow lights, keeping it above 60°F and watering very sparingly during winter months.
