Euphorbia confinalis subsp. rhodesia variegata ‘Zebra’ is an extraordinarily striking and rarely encountered variegated African Euphorbia prized for its powerful ribbed structure and vivid striped coloration.
Native to the rugged Lebombo mountain regions of southern Africa, this remarkable form develops broad sculptural ribs layered with alternating bands of cool blue-green and creamy yellow variegation — creating the dramatic “Zebra” effect that gives the plant its collector name.
The contrast between the luminous striped body and dark horn-like spines gives the plant extraordinary visual tension and depth from every angle. In strong natural light, the coloration becomes even more intense, shifting between mineral sage, pale turquoise, soft gold, and icy green throughout the day.
At nearly two feet tall, this specimen already carries immense architectural presence while maintaining the refined geometric rhythm that makes mature Euphorbia confinalis forms so unforgettable.
The overall effect feels less like a plant and more like:
weathered desert architecture carved from stone.
An exceptional collector Euphorbia admired for its:
- dramatic striped variegation
- bold rib structure
- powerful sculptural silhouette
- and rare visual presence
A true statement specimen.
