Euphorbia columnaris is a rare and striking succulent from Somalia. It's known for its columnar shape, cactus-like appearance, and distinctive cow-horn shaped spines. It is one of the rarest euphorbias. 

Key Characteristics:

• Native Habitat: Northeastern Somalia, specifically the Nugaal Region where it grows on gypsum hills. It's considered virtually extinct in its native habitat.
  
  
• Appearance:

• Slow-growing, columnar species with a yellow-green stem, growing unbranched unless damaged.

• Features up to 16 angled ribs.

• Has characteristic cow-horn shaped spines that are grayish to chalky-white, lining the ribs.

• Blooms small, fine yellow flowers (cyathia) in clusters.

• Care:

• Prefers full sun to partial sun, needing at least six hours of light daily.

• Requires well-draining soil, like a cactus/succulent potting mix.

• Drought-tolerant, so allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.

• Not cold-hardy, so protect from frost (keep above 13°C / 55°F).

• Does not require much fertilizer, but can be fertilized sparingly during the growing season.

• Propagation: Can be difficult to grow on its own roots, so it's often grafted. However, it can be degrafted and rooted. 

Toxicity: Like many Euphorbias, Euphorbia columnaris has a milky sap (latex) that can be irritating to skin and eyes. Handle with caution and wear gloves when pruning or propagating.
