🌵
Crassula arborescens is one of the great architectural jade species — slower, heavier, and more sculptural than the common jade plant. Over time, the trunk thickens dramatically while the rounded silver-blue leaves develop a soft matte finish that almost looks hand-painted.
This mature specimen has the feeling of a miniature desert tree. The branching structure twists naturally with age, creating movement and negative space that younger plants simply do not possess. The pale foliage contrasts beautifully against the darker stems and pottery, especially in late afternoon light.
Often called “Silver Dollar Jade,” Crassula arborescens is prized by collectors for its calm, sculptural presence and incredible longevity. Given time, specimens can live for decades and become true heirloom container plants.
Care Instructions
☀️ Light
Bright light to full sun. Best color and compact growth develop with several hours of direct light daily.
💧 Water
Allow soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. Water more frequently during active growth and sparingly in winter.
🪨 Soil
Requires fast-draining cactus/succulent soil with excellent aeration.
🌡️ Temperature
Protect from frost. Prefers temperatures above 45°F.
🌵 Growth Habit
Slow-growing branching succulent shrub with thickening woody trunks and silver-blue foliage.
✨ Special Note
The soft powdery coating on the leaves is natural and helps protect the plant from intense sun exposure. Avoid excessive handling to preserve the finish.
