🌵

Native to the rocky highlands of eastern Brazil, Cipocereus bradei is a striking columnar cactus prized for its glaucous blue-green stems and elegant upright growth. Mature specimens are seldom encountered in cultivation, and naturally occurring double-headed plants are even more unusual. As the powdery blue epidermis develops in bright light, the plant takes on an architectural presence that makes it equally at home in a serious cactus collection or as a dramatic standalone specimen.

Care Instructions

☀️ Light — Full sun to very bright light. The best blue coloration develops with abundant sunlight.

💧 Water — Water thoroughly when the soil has completely dried. Reduce watering significantly during the winter months.

🪨 Soil — Requires a very fast-draining cactus mix with a high mineral content.

🌡️ Temperature — Prefers warm conditions and should be protected from frost. Avoid prolonged exposure below 40°F.

🌬️ Humidity — Thrives in dry conditions with good air circulation.

📈 Growth Habit — A slow to moderate-growing columnar species that can eventually become an impressive multi-stemmed specimen.

✍️ Special Note — The natural waxy bloom that gives this species its beautiful blue appearance can be marked by handling. This is perfectly normal and does not affect the health of the plant.
