Browningia hertlingiana, often called the Blue Cereus or Blue Column Cactus, is a spectacular columnar cactus native to the high elevations of Peru. Famous for its powdery turquoise-blue skin and strong architectural form, this species develops into a striking tree-like cactus in habitat. Young plants display their most intense blue coloration, making them especially prized among collectors.

🌵 Care Instructions

☀️ Light:
Provide bright light to full sun. Strong light encourages the signature blue coloration and compact growth. Acclimate gradually when moving into stronger sun.

💧 Water:
Water deeply only when soil is completely dry. Reduce watering significantly during cooler months.

🌱 Soil:
Use a fast-draining cactus mix with plenty of mineral material such as pumice, lava rock, or perlite.

🌡️ Temperature:
Protect from frost. Browningia hertlingiana prefers warm, dry conditions and should be protected below approximately 40°F.
