Astrophytum asterias cv. Star Type is one of the most sought-after cultivated forms of the famous Sand Dollar Cactus, admired for its unusually deep, sharply defined ribs that create an exceptionally crisp star-shaped silhouette. Unlike typical Astrophytum asterias, this cultivar develops dramatic angular rib geometry while maintaining the species' naturally spineless form, smooth blue-green epidermis, and distinctive white woolly areoles. The result is a plant that appears almost sculpted rather than grown. Large mature specimens of Star Type are seldom encountered, as Astrophytum asterias is an exceptionally slow-growing species that requires many years to achieve this degree of size and substance.
