🌵
A rare and visually striking monstrose cluster form of Astrophytum asterias, presenting as a dense constellation of irregular, sculptural heads rather than a single flat disc.
Each segment carries the classic asterias character — soft blue-green tone and fine white speckling — but expressed through a highly unusual, proliferating growth pattern. The result is a tight, multi-headed structure with a distinctly organic, almost coral-like presence.
The clustering here is especially strong and stable, with good density and balance throughout. Rather than feeling chaotic, it reads as a cohesive form — something that takes time and the right genetics to develop. The aged central core further reflects maturity and established growth.
The plant is grafted, allowing this form to grow with greater vigor while maintaining its dense, sculptural structure.
This is the kind of plant that doesn’t really have a direct comparison. It sits somewhere between mutation and sculpture — equally natural and abstract.
We have not seen another example like this offered.
This is the only one we have.
🌱 Care Instructions
☀️ Light
Bright light to full sun. Indoors, provide the brightest possible exposure. Acclimate gradually before intense direct sun.
💧 Water
Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely before watering again. Reduce frequency in cooler months or dormancy.
🪨 Soil
Use a fast-draining cactus or mineral-based mix. Excellent drainage is essential.
🌡️ Temperature
Prefers warmth and airflow. Protect from prolonged cold or frost.
💨 Humidity
Low humidity preferred. Average household conditions are suitable.
🪴 Growth Habit
Slow-growing, irregular clustering form. Over time, develops increased density and more pronounced sculptural character.
📝 Special Note
Avoid overwatering. Monstrose forms can be more sensitive to excess moisture, especially during dormancy.
✨ Why It Stands Out
• Rare monstrose clustering growth — not a typical asterias form
• Tight, stable multi-head structure with strong visual cohesion
• Fine, even speckling across all segments
• Mature core with established character
• Grafted for stability and sustained development of this form
• Reads as a sculptural collector piece rather than a single plant
